EXTENSIONISTS AND SELLERS OF HAIRPIECES, WIGS, DREAD KITS ETC

I had pulled my list of sellers off this site, but I've had quite a few emails from people telling me they thought it was useful, so, it's back - but this time, it's just links, no mugshots and no descriptions. If I've put a link in here, it's because I've heard lots of good things about them, and nothing bad. Please don't email me with a link to your shop - as soon as your shop has a sufficient amount of good reviews, I will hear about it that way.

You can find more extensionists and hair sellers listed on this thread of the hairboard, and on these two threads on the livejournal "fakehair" community. There are also some useful threads (with a legend to help you find a seller who specialises in what you are after) in the memories of the livejournal "synthetic_hair" community.

SUPPLIERS OF BULK HAIR

Afrocare - Based in the UK and sell a wide variety of synthetic hair, including cheap monofibre hair for loose extensions. I've had a couple of good reports of their service, and was delighted with how quickly they sent some hair that I ordered. They now sell Elysee Star premade double-ended dreads too.

American Dream - makers of my favourite hair for dreading! They have a warehouse near Shepherd's Bush in London and stock many varieties of hair, both human and synthetic. They're very helpful in the shop, and have a mail-order catalogue - service is fast (usually sent by Special Delivery).

Doctored Locks Hair Extension Supply -As well as extensions and hairpieces, they also make synthetic bangs/fringes and can supply all the hair, tools and materials you could need for making your own hairpieces (yarn, plastic and human/synth hair) and their own secret formula of anti-itch serum - definitely worth a look.

Dome - they invented the method, pretty much. They run training courses for anyone wanting to learn how to do loose extensions. They also sell loose monofilament hair, and also the C2 clamps that are used for fixing in semi-permanent loose extensions. They are quite happy to sell to the public and will take credit cards & ship overseas. Normal monofibre hair is about £20 a pack, and they also stock a range of prolin hair which comes in unusual and beautiful pastel colours for about £10 a pack. The C2 clamps are £149.99 (+VAT). If you are in the US, they can also supply a power transformer for £20.

HairLooksCollection
- Sell many types of synthetic hair and weft hair for weaves. Pricesd are good and I've seen good reports of their delivery times.

Plastikhaar - as mentioned above, they import and supply extremely high quality, cheap monofilament hair, suitable for loose extensions in a huge range of colours.

Prostyles (US) and (UK) - sell very similar stuff to Dome - heat clamps and loose extension hair. Prices are similar to Dome too, but the UK branch of the operation is very friendly and helpful, and postage is very quick. The US branch may not sell to unlicensed people and might ask you questions to test you! &

Stargazer
- Makers of the best quality of loose monofilament hair. For heat-sealed extensions, don't use anything less than this, if you can help it. You can buy online from them, but you have to ask via e-mail - no shopping carts here. Loose extension hair is £16 for a 200g pack, unless you order £100-worth of goods, when the prices drops to £8.50 per pack
.

Texas Beauty Supply Store - A few types of synthetic hair (Jumbo braid, at 60 cents a packet!), plus are a cheap source of human weave hair on a track.

There are a few auction sites worth having a look at, for hairpieces and ponyfalls - as well as the inevitable ebay, there are gothauctions and gothicauctions. As with all online auctions, feedback is a useful indicator of how good the seller is.

Hairpolice - not strictly an online hair seller, but you can find out if and when the Hairpolice wagon will roll into your town.

TUBING/PLASTIC

If you're looking for wide-bore, industrial-looking ribbed tubing, it usually goes by the name of "wire loom", "split loom tubing" or "split tubing" and is sold in computer supply shops or car parts stores. You can see pictures of the stuff here :cableorganizer, xoxide. As for where to buy it, fire up Google or Ebay and go searching for it!

If you're after 'Pepis plastic' (i.e, lightweight, hollow, brightly coloured plastic tubing for extensions), you can get it from silver aj (she makes occasional trips to Spain and buys it in bulk, and she will post it worldwide in both small and large quantities.)

UV light Technology (UK) - UV-reactive plastic in many colours, £1.20 per metre, less for bulk orders

RS Components (UK) - search for 'PVC sleeving' or 'silicone rubber sleeving'- about £3.50 for a 50 metre roll. Not that great, but OK for experimenting with before laying out lots of money for better plastic. This is also a good place to go for more unusual types of plastic and cabling, if you're looking for someting a bit more industrial.

ATP - sell polyeurethane tubing in a variety of colours, widths and lengths

Eurotek UV tubing - Sell lots of different colours of UV tubing.

Hilltop Products Ltd - offer a range of flexible lightweight PVCs in a multitude of colours.

If you're looking for tubing/plastic, do a websearch for 'UV tubing', 'PVC tubing', 'PVC lacing' etc etc. You can buy rolls of plastic lacing, 'rexlace', 'gimp' or 'lanyard' from numerous online craft suppliers.
If somewhere offers you tubing by the metre, bear in mind that a full head of tubes could take 100 - 150 metres of tubing. Could get expensive.. plastic like rexlace and gimp, on the other hand, are usually only $2-4 for a 100 yard spool. Much more economical.
