Lisa says: "I used plastic lanyard instead of tubing, as it was 1. thinner than any tubing I could find 2. readily available at Wal-mart & Micheal's 3. cheap as hell- the lanyard + jumbo braid totalled less than $20 How I Did It I studied every picture I saw of poeple with tubing hair till I could at least *kind of* figure out how it was done. I braided light blue jumbo braid into my real hair as if I was just doing regular braided extensions. (At this point I should have wrapped the braids with more hair, but I didn't due to laziness/time constraints.) I cut my lanyard into various lengths from 12" to 48" and just tied them all up & down the length of the hair I put alot at the top & less as I went down. The lengths were pretty random, as I was expirementing, but when I redo it I will probably do shorter ones at the top of the braid & longer as I go down. I used 6 different shades of blue lanyard, including translucent, solid & hologram. They all glow like freekin' mad in blacklight. I have somewhere between 200 & 220 yards of plastic on my head. Yes, it's heavy. And I did have to remove some at one point because the weight was pulling my real hair out. But I found the happy medium & it hasn't given me too much problem since. I've had it in for over a month now, and I'm going to redo it soon- either with black, clear glitter & silver hologram, or some experimental mixture of dreads & plastic. I may be getting extensions when Bridget comes to LA, so I don't know whether I want to do hair thats too involved right now. So yeah. that's how I did it :-)" |
