Ok so I have had this idea for quite some time to make leopard dreads,
but I couldn't figure out a way to do it so it actually looked like the
dreads had leopard print on them. Finally, about a night or so ago it
popped into my head when I saw a can of black spray paint in my room.
I made a paper mask with the leopard spots cut out taped it around the
dread and I sprayed accordingly. It worked but it didn't resembled leopard
print and it looked awful.. LoL. I then went and busted out my acrylic
paints and since acrylic paints are plastic they will stick to the fibers
that make up the hair used for dread making. I used black and red paint
for the leopard spots.
First, I painted on the black outline of the spots then I added the red
to the middle to make it a bit more authentic looking. When I was using
the paints I got them to a fluid yet thick consistency so it would go
on smooth with out leaving paint chunks. I found this technique to work
very well, although, this technique of hand painting the leopard spots
is time consuming. I am really excited and cant wait to to try a natural
color leopard combo, and more outrages leopard combos as well.
